I always try to promote unique and talented accessory designers whenever I come across them.  This gorgeous scarf was handpainted by Jamie Kirkell at Kirkell Silk Studios.  I particularly like the colors of this scarf as it depicts fall, but is more transitional and not as heavy as some deeper tones can be.  Gorgeous!”

Course Description: Using silk dyes as a watercolor approach we will discover , explore and watch colors transform silk into breath taking color tones. To define our designs on silk we will use Gutta as a wax resist. In addition we will learn special spray and salt techniques for painting on silk. On day one we will begin painting and explore design and color for silk painting. On day two we continue with color and design finishing three scarves. The class will be presented in a stimulating yet relaxed and enjoyable manner with ample support and sharing. This course is ideal for beginners as well as people wishing to learn a new art form. The materials fee includes 3 -4 scarves, a complete silk painting kit, and a frame designed for scarf painting. Hope to see you there.

About the Instructor: Jamie’s silk paintings are a direct result of his textile arts training in Java Indonesia. Returning to the United States he moved to NYC opening a silk art studio with three silk artist and exhibited and did commissioned work across the US and internationally. He exhibits and offers workshops at Botanical Gardens throughout the US. Commissions include TRW International, Carnival Tours and Turnberry Isle Resort Miami. Chrysler Building, NYC. He taught at School of Visual Arts NYC, and Ringling School of Art & Design Sarasota
